Vermont is the ski capitol of east and in Burlington, with 5 resorts an hour or less from downtown, you get the best of the city and the slopes in one package. Bolton Valley is right next door and offers alpine, nordic and backcountry options in one place. They’ve also got some of the best night skiing anywhere. A bit further afield, you can get to Mad River, Sugarbush, Smugglers Notch and Stowe quickly and easily, and get back to town for dinner, drinks and a concert!
